  • I constantly hear that Cetaphil is really good, and have heard many real stories where a dermatologists recommend them. Finding a face wash is very much trial and error, however. One tip I'd give when searching is if a product doesn't work look at the ingredients and compare them with things that might have worked, or other ones that didn't. That way you'll be able to target the best one.

As for me, I prefer to just use a mild or natural soap, hot water and then finish with a blast of cold water to seal my pores.

  • I've tried the Neutrogena Wave. I didn't like it at all. It really wasn't suitable for my skin. I have oily skin.
Anyway, the Wave made me break out terrible, i had tiny little acne spots (and I've never broken out so much before all in one night) on one side of my cheek the day after I used it so I never touched my wave again lol. But you know everyone is different so it may work for you. I've used the oil free neutrogena cream cleaners and I really like that one -]. But since it has salycic acid, its best for people who have quite oily and pimply skin. I'm sure consultants at Beauty stores or department like Sephora may be able to help figure out what kind of skin you have. =]

Right now I'm using Shiseido's Pure cleanser but it is really pricey and as much as I like it, I'm not sure if I'd repurchase because I think I'd be able to find a drug store one that may do the same thing. I like Aveeno, I find it to be so gentle! =]

You might want to try asking around for samples to help you find a good face wash! =]

    Good luck!

  • ^Actually, St. Ives scrub is suppose to be bad for your skin. The exfoliate is too large and roughs up the skin, leaving small holes that make it easier to get bacteria in. (Well, that's the easy way to explain it anyway, that's not exactly it)

  • I don't use face wash unless I have an extreme break-out. I heard from somewhere that it's not good to use face wash every day because your face might get used to it and it won't improve your skin, in fact it won't do anything to it, so I only use face wash when I have a break out rather than everyday use. Then again, my skin isn't really oily. It all depends on your skin type, I guess.

  • Cetaphil works great for me and about once a week I use a microdermabrasion. A microdermabrasion is a face "scrub" that clears your pores of any junk in them. You DONT want to do it every day or you'll have a raw face and it can damage your skin if you use it all the time. Also, every night before you go to bed I use a toner unless you used microdermabrasion. It doesn't have to be top of the line toner, I got one for less than $5 at CVS and it works great.

  • I tried a few different ones over the years and i've found that "tea tree" face wash is the best for my face, as it really soothes the skin just before i break out, and a great make up remover.

It is also relatively cheap depending where you go, i usually buy mine from superdug, and its about £2.99 for a 150ml tube.

  • Neutrogena products can be very harsh when cleansing your skin, they are made to reduce acne but in doing so they strip your skin to remove any dirt and excess oils which is not good for your skin, not saying their products are bad but if you have sensitivve skin in any way than they can actually cause acne or make it worse by causing inflammation. I dealt with acne for years I tried every acne system, brand, or product out you can think of and nothing would would my skin would just get so red. I finally found something that has consistently worked for me I have been using it for half a year now and it has never failed. The line is called Lierac you can purchase their products at REXALL. Their products are all natural plant based, they are odd to get used to at first because the cleansers don't foam or lather and that is actually supposed to be a good thing. When a cleanser foams too much it is because it contains the same I gredients in dish soap.. I dint know about you but I don't want to have a squeaky clean face because my skin is being stripped clean..
